Celwin Plamenco (b. 2002) is an artist based in the Bay Area. Since joining NIAD Art Center in 2024, he has worked primarily in the ceramics and painting departments, creating playful scenes inspired by animated movies, TV shows, and games. These portraits are precisely rendered, and deceptively familiar: Plamenco brings together characters across different film franchises with those from his own history and imagination. The result is a complex and humorous pantheon that blends fact and fiction. By inserting personally significant symbols and patterns, Plamenco claims his space in these new narratives.
